State sheds 7,000 more jobs
The state’s employers cut an estimated 7,000 jobs in October in the local labor market’s worst month in more than three years. The figures, which were released on Thursday by the state Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, marked the state’s largest monthly decline in jobs since March 2005. A Bridgewater man was arrested on Thursday and charged in the stabbing of a Holbrook man outside a party in West Bridgewater, according to court records. Ian S. Rollins, 24, of Tabway Lane, Bridgewater, was arrested on a warrant at 1 p.m. Thursday and charged with assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. A Boston company is being cited for allegedly opening a fire hydrant at the corner of Greenwood and Central streets and taking nearly 3,000 gallons of town water. The annual Jingle Bell Run, a race to benefit the Enterprise’s Helping Hands fund, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Holiday Inn at Westgate Mall.
