The War Memorial Building, 156 West Elm Street, Brockton, MA 02301

A Proud History of Honoring Veterans

Dedication Walkway and New Elevator The War Memorial Building

The War Memorial Building is the majestic architectural landmark located at 156 West Elm Street in Brockton, Massachusetts. In 1930 this building was dedicated to the men and women who served our country in time of war and it continues to be the most visible and classic tribute to the sacrifice of our veterans.

For many years, Brockton's War Memorial Building has served as a meeting place for community veteran organizations and services, as well as the home of the Brockton Symphony Orchestra. Regrettably though, time and exposure to the elements have taken their toll on this Brockton landmark and for it to be preserved the building must undergo major restoration. Therefore, the War Memorial Restoration Project has been initiated.

This War Memorial Restoration Project (WMRP) offers the promise of community–wide support to maintain the primary mandate of the War Memorial Building; to honor the men and women who served our country in time of war. A proposed Veterans Memorial Museum could be constructed in order to promote the virtues of Patriotism, Public Service, and the Responsibilities of Citizenship. In order to insure greater public and community access and utilization, the War Memorial Building will fulfill a secondary mandate to community enrichment providing a home to a downtown Performing Arts Center and the Brockton Symphony Orchestra.

The steering committee for this project is sponsoring a number of fundraisers including War Memorial benefit concerts, the Dedication Walkway, and the Stepping–Stone Initiative.

We must come together to save Brockton's War Memorial Building!
